One Man Dog - Warner Bros 1972
" We - Peter, Kootch, engineer Jack McLean, my brothers and sisters, and other folks - did this before I was married to Carly, and the house in Lambert's Cove where she now lives wasn't finished being built when we recorded it there. At that point it was an early timber structure that my friends called Shingle Mountain. We mic'd a chainsaw on Little David and did a rhythm track with construction tools. We had a lot of chutzpah, but things like New Tune are really nice. The title got changed from One-Man Parade for no good reason." James Taylor
Key Tracks: "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight," "Back on the Street Again"
Note rapide de Rolling Stone:Taylor spent the next few years casting around for a broader-based sound. One Man Dog is so wispy it nearly evaporates. It contained another chart his in "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight," but it's a lightweight concept album full of instrumental interludes that don't play to Taylor's strengths.
